Fad diets are a thing of the past! Clean, healthy and sustainable diets have become the new norm in the world of fitness. When we say clean and healthy, one of the first things that pop up in our mind is nutritious and a wholesome bowl of healthy greens and vegetables. And what better way to introduce it than in the form of salads. Earlier, salads had a bad reputation of being bland and flavourless. While colourful, it lacked the tang and taste. But NOT ANYMORE!

Famous celebrities, who are constantly working towards maintaining their weight and shape, have come up with and enhanced the flavours of different salad recipes. Having said that, read on to know what's cooking in your favourite star's kitchen.

Alia Bhatt's beet beetroot salad

Mom-to-be Alia Bhatt is known for her gym routine and Pilates session with fitness trainer Yasmin Karachiwala. But besides her workout regime, the 29-year-old actor also includes healthy, nutrient-dense food to her diet. One of her favourite salad recipes includes easy-to-make beetroot salad. During the initial phase of COVID lockdown, the actor took to her YouTube channels and provided a step-by-step guide to prepare the salad.

Ingredients: Grated beetroot, a cup of yogurt, black mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, salt, chaat masala.

How to prepare:

Step 1: Mix together the beetroot, yoghurt, salt, pepper, chaat masala and coriander powder in a bowl.

Step 2: For the dressing, mix black mustard, cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves and oil in another small bowl.

Step 3: Add the dressing on the beetroot mix and stir.

Step 4: This is optional but you add a few curry leaves on top of the salad.

Chrissy Teigen's Thai papaya salad

Thai papaya salad is model Chrissy Teigen's favourite. In her cookbook "Cravings: Hungry For More" she has detailed many of her favourite food recipes. She featured in a YouTube video with her mother and showed her audience how to prepare the scrumptious delish.

Ingredients: Unripe papayas, Thai bird chilis, cherry tomatoes, lime, tomatoes, fish sauce and garlic cloves

How to prepare:

Step 1: Crush the garlic cloves and chillies.

Step 2: Combine halved cherry tomatoes and lime, palm sugar, and fish oil and continue to mix.

Step 3: Chop the unripe papayas and add it to the mashed mixture and continue mashing. Serve it with lean meat on the sides, if you want it to be protein-rich.

Kim Kardashian's iconic Chinese Chicken salad

Apart from depicting their luxurious yet controversial lifestyle, Keeping Up With The Kardashians has also popularized healthy salads. The Kardashians are obsessed with it. One of Kim Kardashian's go-to salads is the Chinese Chicken salad.

Ingredients: Shredded iceberg lettuce leaves, red cabbage, shredded carrots, spring onion, sliced avocado, almonds, half a handful of coriander and one large chicken breast, cooked and shredded. For the dressing, you need 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 tsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 1/2 tbsp honey, 1/2 tbsp sesame seeds lightly toasted.

How to prepare:

Step 1: Combine all the salad ingredients together in a large bowl and toss.

Step 2: In a separate bowl, mix all the dressing ingredients.

Step 3: Transfer it into a container, close the lid and toss to mix and serve.

Shilpa Shetty's Thai salad

If you're a vegetarian or a vegan, you must try Shilpa Shetty's Thai salad recipe, which is a true example of a clean and healthy diet.

Ingredients: Tofu, rice powder, black pepper, sea salt, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, spring onions, red chillies, carrots, capsicum, peas, and baby spinach leaves. For the dressing, you need peanut butter (unsalted and unsweetened), ginger paste, maple syrup, tamari sauce/soya sauce, coconut milk, rice vinegar, lime, black pepper, cayenne pepper, chopped coriander leaves.

How to prepare:

Step 1: Saute the tofu, stir-fry the vegetables and combine them together.

Step 2: Prepare the salad dressing by missing all ingredients. Add it on top of the salad and toss.

Jacqueline Fernandez' ‘Zing’ salad

Jacqueline Fernandez is one of the fittest stars in Bollywood, who indulges in regular workouts and eats a healthy diet. According to her, when it comes to salads, ‘Zing’ salad is her favourite, which includes a bulk of healthy greens.

Ingredients: Lettuce, basil, Swiss chard, bok choy, mint leaves, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, green olives, feta cheese, seeds and nuts, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Himalayan salt to taste, and pepper powder.

How to prepare:

Step 1: In a bowl, add lettuce, basil, Swiss chard, and bok choy.

Step 2: Add sliced cucumbers and halved cherry tomatoes along with green olives.

Step 3: Add some feta cheese, and mint leaves for some aromatic experience.

Step 4: Next, add extra virgin olive oil, salt to take and pepper and toss them together.

Step 5: You can top it up with some nuts and seeds.
