All health enthusiasts make sure that they sweat it out at the gym at least four to five days a week. Cardio, weight training and other forms of workout at the gym help keep up with weight loss goals and manage variety lest the workout become monotonous. The treadmill, however, continues to be a staple for everyone and most of us would agree. However, there has been a lot of talk around the treadmill lately and questions as to whether it is safe to use the treadmill have been popping up on search engines and at the gyms. Amidst such an overwhelming deluge of information, it becomes quite tough to ascertain whether it is actually safe to get on the treadmill and run or not. Here we bring to you all that you need to know before getting on the treadmill and burning all that fat.

Experts say that walking, jogging or running on a treadmill is extremely safe and does not entail any risk unless a person is suffering from certain conditions. Given below is a list of health conditions, people suffering from which need extra caution and preparation while running on a treadmill in order to avoid any complications.

Obesity

For people who are overweight or obese, running on a treadmill can lead to complications of the joints. Joint pain and other consequences are often observed in people who fall under the obese category. Try to avoid it until you reach a safe weight and try alternate forms of cardio.

Osteoporosis

Weak, brittle bones or simply, osteoporosis leads to weak joints and running on a treadmill if you suffer from such a problem can lead to weaker bones and injuries might also lead to fractures for brittle bones are much more prone to fractures.

Knee pain

In case you suffer from knee pain and have sensitive knees, you should avoid running on the treadmill because it can lead to further complications and increased severity in the pre-existing condition.

Flat foot or knock knees

Having a flat foot can cause complications in quite a lot of activities that one might do and running on a surface as a treadmill might also entail the same consequences. Wearing specialized footwear with special soles is recommended to avoid injury. Knock knees can also thwart the process and lead to injuries.

Postural deformities such as lordosis, scoliosis and kyphosis are difficult to manage when one runs on the treadmill. In addition to this, it is also important to know if you have any muscle imbalances in the body because they can also be complicated further by running on a treadmill.
