As King Charles’ 76th birthday is approaching, one thing that the whole world is discussing is how he stays healthy and incredibly active. He is set to step into his late 70s later this week, and his approach to fitness is purely gold standard. It’s no wonder that Queen Camilla called him a ‘mountain goat’ during the BBC radio podcast earlier, and lauded how he is probably ‘the fittest man of his age’ she knows. She also spoke about how he would ‘walk and walk and walk’ and is ‘like a mountain goat’ as he leaves everybody miles behind.
King Charles recently told sprinter Desiree Henry, that he 'exercises twice a day', and performs 'squats and does the pull-up bar'. Talking to Hello, personal trainer Chloe Thomas stated that pull-ups have several benefits such as improving upper body strength, grip strength, helping shoulders and joint health, and improving the core. The expert added that doing pull-ups in the 70s is crucial for small daily tasks such as opening jars to holding onto things for support, because pull-ups help grip strength. Chloe spoke about how King Charles’ workout regime, improved his daily life. She noted that pull-ups can also help to strengthen shoulder joints and prevent injuries, which are quite common as one ages.
King Charles has a history of back pain, following a polo accident in the 1990s. He also incorporates squats in his daily fitness regime. Chloe pointed out how people often associate squats with a peachy posterior, however, they have huge benefits as one age. She states that squats help to strengthen legs, hips, and glutes, and it is important as one steps into the 70s to perform daily activities without depending on others. She also adds that having strong leg muscles in 70s will also help prevent the risk of falling.
