Why should you focus on having a strong core rather than 6-pack abs
Until a few years ago, the most common goal every person who obsessively exercised was about getting a six pack ab. And it still holds true for a certain section of people who haven't yet been introduced to the magic of a strong core. And that's the reality - having a strong core is much more important than having six-pack abs.
Why core strength matters
Core- The name itself defines its importance. Your core muscle is actually the core of every move you make. When you are walking, running, twisting, bending, sitting or doing any other work, your abdomen muscle, which is also known as core muscle, initiate and stabilize the movement. They also help you maintain an erect posture.
Your internal obliques, external obliques, transverse abdominis, rectus abdominis and the erector spinae, all combined are referred to as core muscles. These muscles surround our organs and protect them from any external injury.
Having a weak core can lead to poor posture, back pain and even lead to balancing problem. All those people suffering from back pain must try to strengthen their core muscle. Studies suggest that performing core strengthening exercises can provide relief from a back problem and help to manage its symptoms.
What is the role of six-pack abs?
Six-pack abs do not mean you have a strong core. It is easier to get washboard abs than having a strong core. Clean eating and the right balance of body-fat percentage are enough to show you results. Abs just give our abdomen a nice shape. It does not help you perform your daily activity anyway.
We are not saying that aiming for well-shaped abs is incorrect. But you should not focus only on that. Work on every muscle of your body to stay fit.
Some exercises to strengthen your core
You don’t have to perform high-intensity exercises for strengthening your core. Simple exercises like forearm planks, side planks, dead bugs and bird dogs can work effectively on your core muscles.
