Top COVID signs to watch out for

Coronavirus cases are on a rise, with Omicron variants driving the recent surge. The traditional or original COVID symptoms have changed with time, due to multiple factors such as new variants and more and more people getting vaccinated against the virus.

As the symptoms change, it is best to be aware of the current common signs so as to take the best precaution and treatment, in case you get infected.

According to recent data, one of the most common COVID signs in double vaccinated people can crop up in their nose.

2/7

Learn about rhinorrhoea

Rhinorrhoea, also known as runny nose, is one of the “top” symptoms currently seen in fully vaccinated people who get infected with Coronavirus. The data is obtained from Zoe Covid Study App, which monitors the virus and its symptoms through patients using their app. A runny nose is characterised by a free discharge of thin mucus from the nose.

According to the data from Zoe reports, runny nose is a tell-tale COVID sign, seen across 83 percent of their positive COVID users.

3/7

Differentiating COVID runny nose from flu

Runny nose is a common sign of flu and cold as well, which can make it confusing for the patient to determine whether they have COVID or not.

According to Zoe App, “The likelihood that your runny nose is caused by COVID-19 is influenced by how prevalent the disease is at the time. Our data shows that when rates of COVID-19 are high, the chances that a runny nose is due to coronavirus infection is high.”

In case of doubt, it is best to take an at-home COVID test and consult your doctor.

Other COVID signs in the double jabbed

Along with runny nose, COVID can also manifest itself in the fully vaccinated through multiple other symptoms. These include:

-Sore throat

-Blocked nose

-Persistent cough

-Headache

5/7

Why are common COVID symptoms changing?

Traditional COVID symptoms like loss of smell and taste, shortness of breath and fever are not less common, compared to earlier in the pandemic. Newer variants often lead to a change in major red flag signs to watch out for.

Further, those who have been vaccinated experience less severe symptoms. According to Zoe App, more cases are being reported by younger people, “who we have found experience different, less severe symptoms as well.”

6/7

This sign is troubling more vaccinated people

Sneezing has been observed by the team at Zoe as a COVID sign that seems to be troubling those who are vaccinated more. If you are vaccinated and you start sneezing a lot, it is best to get tested for COVID and take proper preventive measures. It is best to stay at home and avoid contact with others. Consult your doctor for diagnosis and medication.

7/7

When to contact a doctor

If you are concerned about your runny nose, it is best to see your doctor for necessary treatment and if you need to take a COVID test or not.

If you experience any of the following symptoms with COVID, you should seek immediate medical attention. These include:

-Difficulty in breathing

-Persistent pain or pressure in the chest

-Inability to wake up or stay awake

-Pale, gray, or blue skin, lips, or nail beds

-Confusion
