Different types of 'tiredness' and how to fix them

There are 5 types of tiredness

Are you one of those who feels exhausted and tired all the time? Even after sleeping for 7-8 hours every night, you do not feel energetic and refreshed in the morning? Well, this is the case with a lot of people. Although diet and lifestyle are two crucial things responsible for the increase or decrease in our energy levels, you can easily fix your problem by making small changes in your lifestyle. But before making any alteration, you first need to know about the different types of tiredness.

2/6

Energy highs and lows

If you take too much of tea, coffee or sugary drinks for a quick burst of energy and often feel lethargic around mid-afternoon, then get your blood sugar level checked. Having sugar-loaded drinks can spike your blood sugar level instantly. It does provide you with instant energy but after some time you will go back to feeling tired and exhausted. The frequent change in blood sugar level can be exhausting for the body and after some time, you might feel tired, irritable, and shaky. Insomnia, poor concentration and mood swings are other symptoms of blood sugar imbalance.

What to do: Fill your plate with food items high in protein and fiber to avoid such a situation. Also, try not to keep long gaps between your meal timing and have a small snack every four hours.

3/6

Lack of stamina

If you feel extremely weak and have zero will to do anything, then it could be due to the decline in iron level. Iron is an essential component of hemoglobin and fuels our brain cells. Iron deficiency is very common among women who regularly experience heavy periods. It can make a person feel feeble because the oxygen needed to produce energy doesn't reach the body cells.

What to do: To overcome this situation, eat more red meat, green veggies, lentils, nuts, and dried fruits.

4/6

Hollowness

If you regularly miss your meals, you might need to rethink your diet plan. Constantly running on an empty stomach might lead to a dip in energy levels. You need to check your magnesium levels in such a scenario. Magnesium is responsible for energy production in the body and if you are low in magnesium, it is obvious to feel sluggish.

What to do: Eat green leafy veggies and whole grains to give yourself a good energy kick.

5/6

Lack of motivation

Do you at times feel that you are not able to concentrate and don't have the mental energy to perform your best? Turns out, it might be due to lack of certain B vitamins. Vitamin B1 deficiency is linked with irritability, poor memory, and concentration, while lack of Vitamin B12 can lead to confusion.

What to do: Limit your alcohol intake and include loads of protein-rich foods in your diet.

6/6

Tired and wired

If you find it difficult to switch off your mind and relax, check your caffeine intake. Caffeine intake surely fuels you for a while but overdoing it could have a negative impact on your energy levels. You might feel tired, but find it difficult to take rest or go to sleep.

What to do: Instead of coffee, opt for herbal tea or sparkling water.
