Without a test it is difficult to check cholesterol level, however few symptoms can guide you

High cholesterol does not have any visible symptoms. Only when you visit a doctor and get your blood tested it will become clear that the cholesterol level in your blood has crossed the threshold.

Without a test, by the time the effects of high cholesterol become visible it might get too late. High cholesterol affects heart and other body organs and puts them to an irreversible complication.

However, with age if one puts a check on unhealthy lifestyle habits or adopts a healthier one the occurrence of high cholesterol can be delayed.

Why is high cholesterol so deadly?

With high cholesterol the fat deposits in the blood vessel. Over time due to growing accumulation the fatty deposits grow in size and ultimately reach a level where they can block the arteries and hence obstruct the flow of blood.

Sometimes these fatty deposits break and form a clot which can cause a heart attack or even a stroke.

Is there an indicator for this?

Though there are no visible symptoms of high cholesterol, it does not mean that there will be pin-drop silence in this connection.

Due to the increase in cholesterol level, there are chances the body will exhibit a certain type of response.

As per experts, one such response is chest pain.

We often associate chest pain with gastric. Many times we have seen people popping a gas pill or gulping down antacids when they feel slight discomfort in the chest.

Doctors advise, if such pain occurs over a long duration one should not simply keep consuming gas pills and instead consult a doctor and get a blood test done.

Chest pain can also be accompanied by heavy pressure in the chest or a feeling of fullness or tightness in chest.

Once fatty deposition begins in the arteries that supply blood to heart there are chances one may experience chest pain more than often. Gradually these individuals will experience all other symptoms associated with coronary artery disease.

I understand that western countries have removed cholesterol from the list of things that damage health. cholesterol is produced within the body if sufficient quantities are not taken in by body. Doctors have stopped prescribing statins to reduce cholesterol, I am told. So why this scare again.
