Sadhguru's diet tips to follow

Sadhguru, the renowned yogi and spiritual guru has frequently shared incredible tips for maximizing our days and maintaining good health. His tips on health and eating habits are inspired by ancient wisdom. His insightful perspectives on maintaining a healthy diet and adopting practices for consuming nutritious food have gained worldwide popularity. Here are some intriguing ways to eat right, as suggested by Sadhguru.

2/6

Consume two meals daily

"The current practice causing a stir worldwide is the OMAD diet, meaning 'one meal a day.' While this approach may assist in weight loss, it could lead to nutritional deficiencies in the long term. Opting for two meals a day could potentially help offset this nutrient loss. Even Sadhguru’s Ashram follows this pattern, offering two meals: one at 10 AM in the morning and another at 7 PM in the evening.

Reinforcing this practice, Sadhguru states, “Many medical professionals have warned me about starving to death, predicting various consequences and advising specific dietary norms. However, I eat only one meal most days—just one substantial meal, and that’s it. Despite doctors' concerns about my travel schedule, insisting I must eat every four hours, I've chosen my path and continue to fare well on it.”

3/6

Eat with your hands

Sadhguru emphasises on the deep rooted cultural practice of eating with your clean hands. “You have no idea what the meal is when you don't touch it. I'm not sure how food can be considered edible if it's not good enough to touch,” says Sadhguru.

You can be confident about the cleanliness of your hands. However, the cleanliness of your fork or spoon can often be compromised, potentially harboring harmful bacteria and pathogens.

4/6

Offer appreciation and gratitude

We are often guilty of eating our meals without considering the long and arduous process of how the grains and vegetables you have on your table grew and became available to you. You also need to carefully choose and consume the food you eat. Eating habits are just as vital as the food you consume. According to Sadhguru, “All living things, whether they are plants, animals, or vegetables, have their own unique lives. Since you're now preparing food out of it in some way, you should eat it gratefully.”

5/6

Chew your meal thoroughly

Teeth serve a purpose, you know! Sadhguru shares a simple and practical tip to help you stay alert throughout the day: Take 24 bites of food and chew each morsel 24 times. Digestion begins in the mouth. The ancient science of Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of slow, thorough chewing for optimal digestive system performance.

Your digestive system operates more effectively when food spends more time in your mouth. According to various yoga systems, Sadhguru advises chewing each mouthful at least 24 times. If you're unsure how to do it, that's the recommendation.

6/6

Eat consciously

Unintentional eating habits can arise unknowingly. It's not ideal to consume meals subconsciously because our capacity for deliberate action is a defining human trait. What makes humans remarkable is our consciousness in everything we do. Being mindful about eating and making improved dietary choices bolsters a robust immune system and supplies our bodies with the energy necessary for optimal performance.
