A recent research study conducted by Patanjali Ayurved has been published in the internationally recognised Journal of Inflammation Research, part of the Taylor & Francis group of scientific publications. The study highlights promising findings on the Ayurvedic treatment of psoriasis using two Patanjali Ayurved products which are the Psorogrit tablets and Divya Taila.
What is Psoriasis? Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune skin condition that causes the rapid buildup of skin cells, leading to scaling, redness, and inflammation. It commonly appears as thick, silvery scales and red patches that can be itchy, painful, and sometimes crack or bleed. The exact cause is unknown, but it is believed to involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Triggers may include stress, infections, skin injuries, or certain medications. Psoriasis can affect any part of the body and varies in severity, and while there is no known cure, treatments aim to manage symptoms and improve quality of life through medication and lifestyle changes.
The researchAccording to the published research, Patanjali’s team of scientists have developed a herbal approach aimed at addressing the root cause of psoriasis. In preclinical studies, the team tested Psorogrit tablets and Divya Taila using established models of psoriasis in mice (imiquimod and TPA-induced models). The results showed significant improvements in skin condition and inflammation.
According to the research and testing, the combination of oral (Psorogrit tablet) and topical (Divya Taila) therapy has showed Patanjali's integrative approach to health, and the right mix of traditional knowledge with modern scientific validation. Over time, researchers in Patanjali and people who follow and believe in their works, are in the hope that this development will offer a safer and more holistic alternative to those struggling with psoriasis.
The publication of this study marks a significant step in Patanjali’s ongoing efforts to bring evidence-based Ayurveda into the global healthcare conversation.
