5 very early signs of Prostate Cancer that often go unnoticed in men

Prostate Cancer develops in the prostate gland, a part of the male reproductive system. It's one of the most common cancers in men, grows slowly, sometimes without causing noticeable symptoms. Because of this, most men usually cannot identify their prostate cancer, until it advances to later stages and can be terminal. These subtle warning signs serve as potential indicators of prostate cancer. Early detection of these signs leads men to receive timely treatment which results in better health results.

2/14

Frequent urination, especially at night

Prostate cancer first manifests through increased nighttime urination, which is a common symptom. Men who suffer from prostate cancer frequently need to visit the bathroom multiple times at night, which disrupts their sleep patterns and reduces their daily energy levels. The prostate gland that surrounds the urethra allows urine to pass through. In cases of cancer, the prostate gland creates pressure against the urethra when it becomes enlarged, or develops cancer which leads to urinary irritation and sudden urination needs. Men should immediately consult their doctor about any recent or worsening bathroom routine changes.

3/14

Difficulty starting or weak urine flow

A person with prostate cancer may experience difficulty initiating urination together, with interrupted urine flow. The urination process becomes challenging for men because they must push harder to start, and the urine stream is weak and stops randomly. This occurs because the growing prostate tumor creates blockages, or reduces the diameter of the urethra which leads to these symptoms. When the prostate gland enlarges or develops cancer, it produces difficulty for urine to pass normally, while causing pain or discomfort during urination. Medical attention should be sought immediately when these symptoms develop or worsen, since they might point to early prostate cancer or other prostate conditions that need assessment.

4/14

Pain or burning sensation when urinating

Some prostate cancer patients experience painful sensations when they urinate or ejaculate, during their initial stages of disease development. This can lead to inflammation or irritation of prostate tissue or surrounding areas, because cancer affects these regions. People experience pain in various locations including their lower abdomen, as well as their pelvic region and their lower back. Medical evaluation should always occur when these symptoms appear, because they may result from prostate infections or other prostate conditions. Also See: Bowel Cancer Symptoms: 5 very early symptoms of Bowel Cancer that are easy to ignore

5/14

Blood in urine or semen

The presence of blood in urine (hematuria) and semen (hematospermia) during the early stages of prostate cancer often goes unnoticed. The urine may display pink or red colors, or resemble cola when blood is present, or the semen may contain visible red spots after ejaculation. This occurs because cancer leads to internal bleeding which appears as symptoms throughout the prostate and urinary tract. Most men will ignore it when they notice blood in their urine or semen, because they think it may stem from infections, injuries or other medical conditions. Any detected blood in urine or semen requires immediate medical consultation because it demands proper testing to establish a correct diagnosis.

Sudden erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction represents a common condition in aging men, yet its sudden onset might indicate prostate cancer. This occurs because prostate cancer development compresses nerves that control erections located near the prostate gland. Men who experience unexplained erectile dysfunction often face difficulties achieving, or sustaining an erection. If as a man you have been experiencing the same, you need a complete prostate health assessment and evaluation of additional possible health issues.

What is prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the prostate gland, a small, walnut-shaped gland located in the male reproductive system just below the bladder. The prostate's main function is to produce the fluid that makes up a significant portion of semen. Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, and while the exact cause is not fully understood, it is believed to be linked to genetic changes in the DNA of prostate cells that cause them to grow and multiply uncontrollably. Early intervention is crucial for best treatment options and outcomes.
