5 Signs Your Lungs Aren't as Healthy as Before

COVID has impacted almost every organ in our bodies, moreover, our lungs. Lung health has been drastically affected by coronavirus infections. We have all been told to inhale and exhale in every situation to calm ourselves and the nervous system that controls the body's involuntary functions. Healthy lungs are important as every cell in your body requires life-giving oxygen. If you’ve recovered from COVID, these signs suggest that your lungs aren’t as healthy as you think:

2/6

Shortness of Breath

Feeling short of breath could be the result of exposure to pollution, smoking, or living in a bustling metropolis. While there are numerous causes of shortness of breath, it can be the root cause of major conditions such as respiratory issues. Shortness of breath can sometimes lead to more significant problems, such as Dyspnea, which is a tight feeling in your chest that prevents you from taking a deep breath.

3/6

Wheezing or Coughing

Wheezing can be caused by inflammation and a constriction of the airway in any part of the respiratory tract, from the throat all the way out to the lungs. Inflammation in the lungs or constricted airways is the root cause of this condition. It is possible for this to be a symptom of a variety of diseases and disorders, including asthma or COPD.COPD, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, is an inflammatory lung condition that worsens over time and ultimately prevents air from escaping the lungs. The likelihood of lung difficulties increases if you have a persistent cough, increasing mucus or wheezing.

4/6

Chest pain or Tightness

If you have chest pain whenever you cough or take a deep breath, this could indicate a developing lung condition. A number of different medical issues can cause tightness in the chest. It could be due to something like an infection, anxiety, heart illness, or lung disease. Sometimes experiencing tightness in the chest is strongly associated with respiratory issues.

5/6

Frequent lung Infections

Factors in your surroundings and way of life, such as frequent contact with other infected people, may cause you to become infected repeatedly. Frequently experiencing respiratory infections might be a symptom of a more serious illness.

6/6

Difficulty in Exercising

If you're not used to working out often, you can find yourself struggling for breath during physically demanding activities. While experiencing temporary shortness of breath during exercise is common, chronic shortness of breath may indicate a more serious underlying lung condition and necessitate a visit to the doctor.
