The Public Health Agency of Canada announced 61 cases of salmonella across the country, including 17 that have required hospitalization, have been linked to recalled mini pastries.
As per the agency, the Sweet Cream brand treat has been distributed at bakeries, hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals, and retirement residences, as well as served at catered events.

A Saturday notice issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the recall covers Sweet Cream mini patisserie four-kilogram boxes and one-kilogram trays with best before dates from June 17, 2025, up to and including November 15, 2025.
The Canada Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recalled a brand of mini pastries amid the same salmonella outbreak, and as per the CFIA said illnesses linked to Sweet Cream mini pastries have been reported in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick. According to the CFIA notice, the youngest person to become ill was three years old, while the oldest was 88.
The public health agency wrote in a statement Sunday, "People became sick between late September 2024 and mid-December 2024." It added, “Many people who became sick reported eating mini pastries at catered events or other establishments where the recalled product was served."
As per the CFIA, healthy people infected by salmonella may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.
According to the regulator, the pastries were distributed to a variety of locations including bakeries, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, and retirement homes, and had also been served at catered events. Anyone who has some of the recalled products is urged to either throw them out or return them to the location where they were purchased.
As per CFIA, “Most people who become ill from a salmonella infection will recover fully after a few days without treatment, but it can also cause severe illness and hospitalization.”
People at higher risk include older adults, young children, pregnant people, and people with weakened immune systems.
