Shweta Tiwari's go-to drink can control uric acid levels; know what it is
We all know Shweta Tiwari's love for coffee and several times the actor has flaunted her passion for coffee on social media.
But did you know that coffee can be a good drink for those who have high uric acid? Studies suggest that regular coffee consumption can help lower uric acid levels and reduce the risk of gout, a condition caused by high uric acid. Several reports have said that the actor drinks coffee to control uric acid.
Coffee contains compounds like chlorogenic acid, a powerful antioxidant that may improve insulin sensitivity. Better insulin sensitivity helps the kidneys excrete uric acid more efficiently, reducing its levels in the bloodstream. Additionally, coffee inhibits xanthine oxidase, an enzyme involved in the production of uric acid, which may further help control its levels.
Both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee have benefits with regard to lowering uric acid. However, it would do well to avoid sugar-added or high-calorie additives, as this defeats the health benefits and might actually increase the risk for metabolic issues that are often connected with high uric acid levels.
Uric acid is a waste product produced when the body breaking down purines. It is usually filtered and expelled from the body through urine. However, if the quantities of uric acid increase excessively (hyperuricemia) or decrease below normal levels (hypouricemia), it can cause a variety of health problems.
Many urate crystals can precipitate in the joints and cause gout: a painful inflammatory condition. Often it affects the big toe; however, it can attack any other joint. In addition, chronic hyperuricemia can lead to urate stone formation in the kidneys because urate crystals deposited in the urinary tract contribute to kidney dysfunction or chronic kidney disease over time. High uric acid has also been associated with the metabolic syndrome, which elevates the risk of having diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.
It is, therefore, essential to maintain balanced uric acid levels through a healthy diet, hydration, and regular medical check-ups.
