The secret of a long life

The world’s oldest person, Kane Tanaka, a 119-year-old woman from Japan has died, confirmed a statement released by the country's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. Born on January 2, 1903, the Guinness World Records holder breathed her last at a hospital in Fukuoka city, western Japan, on Tuesday, April 19. In her life, she defeated cancer twice and witnessed two pandemics- the 1918 Spanish flu and the COVID-19. She died due to age-related complications and left for the heavenly abode peacefully.

As per reports, Tanaka was an earlier riser. She typically used to get up at 6 in the morning every day. Even at the age of 119, Tanaka used to read every afternoon. Of all her favourite was to solve maths related problems. It helped her brain stay active and focused. Regularly reading something decreases the risk of dementia, which often shows up in the elderly. As per studies, reading improves your focus, memory, empathy, and communication skills. It can reduce stress and help you live longer.

Rich countries have better health statistics. Due to better medical facilities ,better food and better education/ awareness. Average age in developed countries is around 80 years and is around 45 only in poorest countties.
