These THREE things can reduce cancer risk by 60%

Despite huge advancements in medicine, Cancer still largely remains incurable, though it can be treated with timely treatment. The reason why there is no cure for cancer is primarily because it can practically attack any organ in the body, and multiplies rapidly, defeating most forms of traditional treatment. What makes it even more tricky is that if you had Cancer once, it is highly likely you will get it again, this time more aggressive than the last. However, while the ailment might not be curable, it is (mostly preventable) and doctors might just found out how... Let's take a look...

2/7

This trio can prevent cancer?

A recent study has revealed that a simple combination of three everyday health habits-taking vitamin D supplements, consuming omega-3 fatty acids, and doing moderate exercise-can reduce the risk of invasive cancer by about 60%. This discovery is especially important for older adults but offers valuable lessons for everyone interested in cancer prevention.

3/7

The study

The research, known as the DO-HEALTH trial, involved over 2,000 healthy adults aged 70 and older from several European countries. Over nearly three years, participants were divided into groups receiving vitamin D, omega-3 supplements, a simple home strength exercise program (SHEP), or combinations of these interventions. The results showed that while each treatment alone had some benefit, the combination of all three led to a 61% reduction in the risk of invasive cancer compared to those who did not follow these interventions.

4/7

Role of Vitamin D

Vitamin D is well-known for supporting bone health, but it also plays a role in controlling cell growth and reducing inflammation. Studies suggest that vitamin D can slow down or stop the growth of cancer cells. In this trial, participants took a daily high dose of vitamin D3 (2,000 IU), which helped improve their immune response and possibly prevented cancer cells from multiplying.

5/7

Omega-3 Fatty Acids and its benefits

Omega-3 fatty acids, commonly found in fish oil, have anti-inflammatory properties and help maintain healthy cell membranes. Research shows omega-3s may prevent normal cells from turning cancerous by reducing inflammation and supporting the immune system. In the study, a daily dose of 1 gram of omega-3 supplements was given, contributing to the reduced cancer risk when combined with vitamin D and exercise.

6/7

Moderate exercise is the key

Exercise is a powerful tool against cancer. Moderate physical activity improves immune function, lowers inflammation, and helps maintain a healthy weight-all factors that reduce cancer risk. The home strength exercise program used in the study was simple and designed for older adults to do at home, focusing on muscle strength and balance. Regular exercise also helps regulate hormones such as insulin, which, when elevated, can increase cancer risk.

7/7

How the combination works

The key finding of the study is that the combined effect of vitamin D, omega-3s, and moderate exercise is much stronger than any one of them alone. Together, they support the body’s defenses against cancer in multiple ways-boosting immunity, reducing inflammation, and improving overall health. This triple approach led to a significant drop in new invasive cancer cases among the participants.
