The study was conducted as a randomised, placebo-controlled trial, which is the standard of gold in clinical research. It tested the effects of Holy Basil extract on 100 adults between the ages of 18-65 years. Participants received either a placebo or a dose of 125 mg of Holy Basil extract twice daily for eight weeks. After 8 weeks of rigorous trial, the group that was taking the extract showed a remarkable 36% decrease in hair cortisol levels. That indicated a major reduction in long-term stress levels.
