What causes dark spots and how to treat them

Cause of dark spots on face

Are you curious as to why you are developing black spots on your face and your skin has become less clear? Your face's black blotches may be the result of photosensitivity. Dark patches can result from a variety of sources, some of which are underlying disorders. The primary cause of black patches on your face is inflammation. Inflammation can be brought on by trauma, heat, or irritation. While dark spots on your face can be externally treated with skincare products, interior problems can be treated to accelerate the removal of dark spots and provide you with clear skin. The following are some of the causes of black spots:

2/7

Sun exposure

UV light speeds up the production of melanin, the natural pigment that gives skin its color, when we are exposed to the sun. When melanin builds up or is created in excess on skin that has been exposed to the sun for years, age spots appear. Moreover, using commercial tanning beds and lamps can result in age spots.

3/7

Mask of pregnancy

The phrase "mask of pregnancy" describes melasma, a condition that frequently affects expectant mothers. After the infant is born, melasma normally gets lighter over time, but some dark areas are frequently left behind. Often, it gets worse in the summer and better in the winter.

4/7

COVID-19

Many have expressed worry over dark patches following their COVID-19 encounter. Another skin rash that may result from COVID is pityriasis rosea. A few days later, you may notice multiple smaller, darker red patches on your back, stomach, or chest in addition to the large red patch that initially emerges on your body. They don't itch all that badly.
5/7

Aha Bha and solutions for peeling

On skin, overuse of active ingredients like alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) may result in irritation. Although Aha's and Bha's are known to reduce pigmentation, black spots might appear on your skin if you use them excessively or don't properly apply them with moisturizer and sunscreen. If you are prone to hyperpigmentation, the peels may have disturbed your skin, which is why you ended up with dark areas.

6/7

Imbalance of hormones

Syndromes like PCOS and thyroid problems could be brought on by your hormonal imbalance. Did you know that your hormone gland, either overactive or dormant, may be the cause of your black spots? A hypoactive thyroid gland can change hormone levels and cause melasma patches on your face.

Methods to address dark spots

Preventing acne and other skin flaws can be achieved by using a face pack with ingredients like sandalwood or turmeric. Certain skin care experts have indicated that potatoes can also treat dark spots because they contain the enzyme catecholase. Use a face pack including rose water, turmeric, and mulethi powder to treat acne, dark spots, and inflammation. When combined, they give you a more balanced complexion and can be used as at-home treatments for facial dark spots.
