Work from home routine left you feeling drained and exhausted? Try these hacks to feel energetic immediately

While the work from home routine may have sounded like a dream come true in the very beginning, fast forward three months and almost every other person is feeling more exhausted, drained and jaded with every passing day. So, how exactly are we so tired and lethargic without stepping a foot outside our doors to commute to work? It is a common knowledge that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed our world, in more ways than one. In addition to a complete disruption of our normal work routine, the pandemic has forced us to juggle professional deadlines and house-hold responsibilities at the same time.

2/7

Where is the ‘home’ in work-from-home routine

As the lines between professional and personal continue to blur with every passing day, people end up spending more and more time tapping on their keyboards in front of their laptop screens. It can get even more frustrating for young parents, who have to take care of wailing little ones, juggle professional work and cook and clean as well. Hence, it comes as no surprise that most of us are feeling unusually sluggish and exhausted even after clocking in a good night’s sleep as there is no tangible difference between office hours and home-life anymore.

If you too feel that someone has sucked in all your energy and you crave for afternoon nap times like never before, we list down five hacks that will make you feel energetic and all pepped up to seize the day.

3/7

Don’t press the snooze button

Yes, as tempting as it may be to squeeze in those 10 extra minutes of shut-eye, we strongly advise against it. When you wake up late, there are high chances that you head straight to your laptop and start working, before you even had the time to freshen up and have your breakfast. The lack of a morning routine sets you up for an irritable and cranky mood and you end up feeling drained out even before the day has begun. Try to wake up on your regular time and drink a glass of water instead of a cup of Joe. You are bound to feel much better!

4/7

Don’t skip your breakfast

It does not matter whether you enjoy having a heavy breakfast or like to keep things light, it is important to eat your breakfast within half an hour to 45 minutes after getting up. It will provide you with the necessary energy to kick start your day.

5/7

Say yes to light stretches

Before you settle down in front of your computer screen, make sure to do some light stretching. It will not only take care of any stiffness that may occur due to prolonged sitting but will also ensure that you do some physical activity before you start your work for the day.

6/7

Get some fresh air and sunlight every day

More often than not, we end up spending our whole day, cooped up inside our homes, which throws off our sleep cycle completely off the track. Make sure that you spend at least some time every day in natural daylight and catch some fresh air. If you don’t have access to a terrace or garden where you can safely spend some me-time during the pandemic, make it a point to open your windows and let some sunlight in.

7/7

Make time for something other than your work

While we understand that in between professional commitments and household chores, it may be hard to find time to relax and rewind. However, we strongly advise you to take out at least 15 minutes to do anything that stimulates your mind. From light reading, solving puzzles to even a game of dumb charades with your family members will do a job to boost your mental health.
