A big event in the family and you wish to delay your periods – don’t you? Get together with friends, vacations, official tours, or parties- we want to avoid periods on all such occasions. Not only periods cause excessive discomfort in addition to spasmodic pain and cramps but its symptoms like swelling breast and bloating are equally troublesome. We quickly take aid of Google or a medical book to look for ways to naturally postpone our periods. We get a lot of ideas after browsing or reading books but always doubt whether the remedies given would work or not.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is an effective natural remedy to delay the periods and provides relief to the symptoms of PMS. Dilute apple cider vinegar in water at least a week before the expected date of the cycle and it might be helpful. Although according to a research woman suffering from PCOD can experience a fall in insulin levels, causing blood clotting and lightening the blood flow if they consume apple cider vinegar. But it does not mean that the blood flow will cease altogether.

Lemon juice

It is one of the oldest methods to delay periods. Consume lemon juice in moderate quantities for period postponement as per anecdotal studies and reports. However, there is no such medical evidence to prove that citrus foods might help to push back bleeding. If you try this technique, mix two spoons of lemon juice in a glass of water or drink it with tea without sugar.

Gelatin

Drink gelatin water once a day for 3-4 days before the expected period date, it is a wondrous remedy that might delay the menstrual cycle for some time. However, excessive intake of gelatin can cause indigestion and bloating.

Gram lentil soup

Make fine powder of gram lentils and mix 2 teaspoons of it in any soup every day. Consume this mixture 10 days before the expected date of menstrual cycle. Remember to take this soup in small quantities for a few days only, however, discontinue it if any adverse effects of it are noticed.

Cinnamon tea

Cinnamon tea helps in delaying periods, reduces inflammation, menstrual cramps and provides respite if the bleeding is heavy. It’s a miraculous remedy without any side-effects. Cinnamon tea has an excellent flavor, is tasty and healthy as well.

Watermelon

Watermelons are soothing for the abdomen and full of nutrition. The sweet, juicy, pulpy fruit is an excellent remedy for delaying periods. Take a bowl of fresh and cold watermelon 7 days before the expected date of your cycle for good results.

Stay away from spicy food as it can be an invitation for heavy bleeding.
