4 signs that show Keto diet is working for you

Lately, the ketogenic diet has gained a lot of popularity. This high-fat, low-carb and moderate-protein diet helps in losing weight, once the body enters ketosis (a metabolic state when the body gets energy from fats instead of carbs). But to realize when our body has achieved ketosis, can be a little tricky. However, there are certain signs and symptoms that should be noted to know if the body has entered this stage. Health experts say that these signs don’t last long, once the body adapts to this new fat-burning process, they automatically fade away. If in case, these symptoms stay for a longer time that means the diet is not properly followed.

Below are a few common signs of ketosis.

2/5

Bad breath

BAD BREATH: If you have followed this diet, you know how bad it can turn your breath. The diet does help in losing weight, but not so helpful for your breath. This is because following this diet creates by-products as soon as it breaks down fat to use energy. Hence, this waste is eliminated through sweat, breath and urine. To get rid of this smelly breath, frequently brush or chew sugar-free mints.

3/5

You feel lethargic all the day

YOU FEEL LETHARGIC ALL THE DAY: Following this diet may also make you feel tired. Experts say that to feel energetic, you must not indulge in strenuous activities and once your body gets accustomed, then you begin to feel active.

4/5

You may suffer from body ache and cramps

YOU MAY SUFFER FROM BODY ACHE AND CRAMPS: Another symptom of entering into ketosis state is that you may suffer from cramps and body ache. When you lower the intake of carbohydrates, you may suffer from mineral and electrolyte imbalance. This could lead to the deficiency of sodium, potassium and magnesium. As these nutrients are required for preventing aches and cramps, their shortage can cause cramps.

5/5

Digestive issues

DIGESTIVE ISSUES: People on ketogenic diet often experience constipation. This happens as fiber intake is not enough, which results in having trouble pooping. Another reason for digestive issues is the absence of carbohydrates in your diet. Since carbs are converted into glycogen, which contains high water content.
