REGULAR habits that are HURTING your spine

Your spine is your lifeline. It supports you, helps you stand uptight, bears your weight and plays a major role in the nervous system. Even a slight damage or injury to your spine can impact your overall health. You may not even realize but doing certain everyday things can actually cause the spine damage. Hence, before doing the following activities, you must watch your back.

2/7

Wearing high heels too often

WEARING HIGH HEELS TOO OFTEN: Wearing heels frequently can cause the spine’s curvature to go out of alignment. It can affect your posture and can cause your back and hips to flex. Go for platform heels, flats and avoid pointed heels.

3/7

Heavyweights in the gym

HEAVYWEIGHTS IN THE GYM: If you carry heavy weights in the gym, you must do it under an expert’s supervision. Carrying heavy weights, especially when you are not used to it, can actually damage your spine.

4/7

Heavy bags

HEAVY BAGS: Carrying heavy shopping bags, grocery bags, heavy backpacks make you lean on one side or forward. If your body stays tilted for a longer duration, it can cause neck pain and damage the spine. Avoid carrying heavy bags or distribute the load in both the hands.

5/7

Using mobile phone

USING MOBILE PHONE: Though this habit has become a part of our lifestyle, we have forgotten what immense harm it is causing our health. Craning your neck to use your smartphone or tilting your neck while talking on the phone puts a lot of pressure on your backbone.

6/7

Wrong sleeping position

WRONG SLEEPING POSITION: The wrong sleeping position, which is sleeping on your tummy is also bad for your spine health. It puts pressure on the spine arch and neck which eventually leads to joint pain, neck pain and back pain.

7/7

Certain household chores

CERTAIN HOUSEHOLD CHORES: Well, there is no escape from daily household chores but doing them in the right posture can prevent spine injuries. For instance, when you mop or use a vacuum, you tend to tilt forward. This can put pressure on your back.
