Why is my weight not dropping?

Are you frustrated with your weight? Sure, you are trying this and that, but nothing seems to work. If that is true, maybe there are some MAJOR lifestyle and mindset changes you need to make. Once you get them right, you will automatically become your healthiest self, with the perfect or closer to perfect weight, based on your body mass index.

In her recent Instagram post, celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar dropped some truth bombs to awaken our lifestyle and let go of redundant habits.

Here are the top 3 mistakes everyone makes while losing weight, according to the nutritionist:

2/6

Waiting for the ‘right time’

Waiting for 2023 to start eating right and signing up for exercise. Is that you too?

Now that December is here, are you too thinking about fixing your entire life in the new year, only to do this over and over each year?

Diwekar adds the cliche truth – the right time is NOW. "It won’t take away from the progress you make in 2023, only accelerate it," she says.

3/6

Focusing on the number on the weighing scale

It's easy to start fixating on the numbers on your weighing scale to measure your success or failure. Fitness cannot be measured by just your weighing scale.

"If you lose weight but also lose sleep, appetite and happiness, then you are just in a lose-lose situation," Diwekar explains, adding, "Gaining health is the key to losing weight."

4/6

Following FAD lifestyle trends

Diwekar discourages falling in the trap of shortcuts or easy weight loss methods or new trends for weight loss.

According to the nutritionist, you are committing another weight loss mistake if you are, "being on a diet that promotes itself as a lifestyle but requires you to download an app, buy a product or pop pills."

5/6

The healthy lifestyle for weight loss

Lifestyle is about sleep hygiene – one most important point being sleeping in sync with your body's circadian cycle. Other healthy lifestyle habits include ordering less food from outside and cooking more at home.

A good lifestyle also includes "relishing your food nice and slow" instead of calling rice as 'carbs' and dal as 'protein'. Lastly, Rujuta adds, "it's about exercising like there’s a tomorrow because there is one."

6/6

Simplify your weight loss challenges

Losing weight can be hard, so you need to try to simplify it to make it easier for yourself, instead of complicating it further. Focus on simple and sustainable methods that work for you, to achieve fitness that lasts forever.
