Potato recipes that can be a great addition to your weight loss plan

​Are potatoes healthy?

Potatoes are not always seen as a healthy vegetable. Due to its high carbohydrate content it is not seen as a healthy food item.

However, this carbohydrate dense vegetable should not be discarded from the diet completely. One should try to include a moderate amount of potato in the diet.

Potato makes an ideal food option as it acquires the taste of the spice it is put into. Potatoes have a starchy texture which makes them unique and different from green vegetables.

​Decoding the nutritional value of potato

One medium potato comprises 37 grams of carbohydrates, 4.3 grams of protein, 3.8 grams of fibres and 2 grams of sugar.

It can be seen that potatoes contain a decent amount of fibres which is a good sign for weight management.

​Baked potato wedges

Wash potatoes and prick them with a fork

Microwave it for 3 minutes

Remove it from the oven and transfer the potatoes to a baking sheet

Add diced vegetables of your choice to the potatoes

Add good amount of olive oil, salt and pepper to this

Make sure oil and spices are coated properly on the vegetables

Bake the veggies for 30 minutes till they are soft and brown.

​Potato salad

Boil potatoes and cut them into small pieces

Add olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, pepper to it.

To this you can add spring onion, cucumbers, and raw mangoes

Mix them all together and keep aside for sometime

For the dressing take cream, mustard sauce, salt, black pepper and milk together

Add the dressing to the salad

Garnish it with coriander leaves

​Potato pancakes

Boil potatoes and mash them properly

Add flour to this (it is best to add wheat flour)

Add two eggs, garlic, salt and pepper to the mashed potato

Add thinly grated carrot, spring onion

Take a tawa to cook this pancake

Grease the tawa with oil and pour the potato mash to it

Gently spread it properly

Cook it properly on both sides, till it is brown

​Baked potato

Slit the potatoes into cubes

In a bowl take butter, chilli flakes, oregano, sesame seeds, coriander leaves, garlic and mix them together

Coat this mixture on the potatoes

Bake these potatoes for 35 minutes

Add some coriander leaves, salt and pepper to this and serve them hot.
