Age: 24
Highest weight recorded: 135 kgs
Weight lost: 52 kgs
Duration it took me to lose weight: 3 years
The turning point: My turning point came when I was diagnosed with kidney disease.
My breakfast: 1 cup of no sugar coffee with skimmed milk and rawa dosa or cheela or wheat cereals or museli or poha
My lunch: 3 wheat rotis and 1 vegetable dish with less oil and no salt or rice (once in a week)
My dinner: 2 or 3 wheat roti and vegetable dish with less oil and no salt
I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): Snacks like vada or samosa but fried in olive oil or dark chocolate without sugar
My workout: 2 hours of walking daily
Fitness secrets I unveiled: Staying fit makes you feel stronger and better.
How do I stay motivated? I chose to answer body shamers by staying fit rather than replying back. This is what kept me motivated.
How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? I make sure I walk every day and weigh myself daily in the morning to ensure I maintain my weight. Even 100 grams increase in my weight makes me sad.
What’s the most difficult part of being overweight? You are stuck to limited choices of clothes. I am a person who loves to dress up, and this was a setback for me.
Also, I felt ashamed to see people due to my shape.
What are the lifestyle changes you made? The major change was to cut off junk food and sugary foods since I love them both. However, I have understood that both can lead to weight gain and hence should be avoided.
Lessons learnt from weight loss: A healthy lifestyle means a healthier and a happier life.
