Weight loss: Cumin water vs. fennel water vs. cinnamon water
Cumin, fennel and cinnamon water are a few tried and tested home remedies that help one lose weight and provides many other health benefits. While all the drinks are super healthy, we talked to Dr Mansi Chatrath, Chief Dietitian and Director, Natural Health Care Clinic to know which is the best drink among the three, when it comes to weight loss.
Cumin water
Cumin seeds are cold in nature and help in balancing the pH level of the stomach. Cumin water is great for people suffering from burning, bloating, acidity and even indigestion. As we all know, good digestion is the key step towards losing weight.
Not just this, cumin helps you get rid of water retention in the body (helping you lose water weight), improves your insulin sensitivity, is anti-inflammatory in nature, helps in correcting metabolic disorders and reduces overall body weight.
How to make cumin water
The best time to have cumin water is right after you get up in the morning. To make this healthy drink, soak one teaspoon of cumin seeds overnight, boil them in the morning until the quantity is reduced to half, to get the maximum benefits.
Fennel water
First things first, thick fennel seeds are to be used for the purpose of weight loss. These are super-rich in fibre, which keep you fuller for longer and stops you from binge eating. Another important way in which fennel seeds help one in losing weight is by curbing your sugar cravings. A glass of fennel seed water during the day can stop you from reaching out to any sugary items.
It is high in vitamins and minerals and acts as a blood purifier. It is great for heart patients as it helps in reducing cholesterol and regulates blood pressure levels. Fennel seeds are extremely good for eyesight. It also works wonders for bloating, digestion and constipation.

Fennel seed water is most effective when consumed on an empty stomach. Soak it overnight, boil it and consume it lukewarm.
Cinnamon water
Cinnamon is great for balancing the hormones and thus a must-try for people suffering from PCOS, a condition that can lead to unwanted weight gain in many cases.
Cinnamon also helps in combating the side of high-fat foods, which promotes weight loss. The only thing to be kept in mind with cinnamon consumption is that it's warm in nature and thus should be consumed cautiously during the summer season.
It has antifungal and antibacterial properties that help keep various infections at bay.
How to make cinnamon water
Take 2 pinches of cinnamon in one glass of water, boil it and have it twice a day to see results. The best time to have cinnamon is during noon and sleep time.
How long should you consume any of these concoctions to see visible results?
"Home remedies take time to show effect. Have any of these concoctions for at least 3 months to see visible results," says Dr Mansi.
She also adds, "make sure to only have one thing at a time and not mix them."
Anyone who should be careful with the consumption of these concoctions?
Dr Mansi says, "all the three concoctions are super healthy, though diabetics should be cautious about consuming saunf water."
