Pankaj Prasad’s fitness journey is inspiring

This is the experience of Pankaj Prasad, a 29-year-old who, despite working a 9-hour shift every day of the week, lost 10 kg in just two months. If you've been feeling that your job prevents you from maintaining a fitness regimen, this is all the motivation you need.

2/7

What caused the weight gain?

I was diagnosed with Type-II Diabetes during my yearly checkup, and my blood sugar level was above 395. I am aware of my hereditary predisposition, but I never anticipated experiencing it at the age of 25. But my life's plans were otherwise. Like, in addition to this work, I also desired to succeed in the UPSC. I cannot afford to lose this opportunity or to squander my time. In addition, I was aware that there is no cure, so why worry about the sugar when I can just take one pill in the morning?

3/7

What was the turning point?

When the UPSC Prelims Results were released in July 2018, I was unsuccessful in getting my targeted roll number. I was close to the mark, but I was off by only 0.67 marks. Another failure in terms of my health occurred before I had time to recover from the first. I underwent my yearly medical checkup in October 2019. I experienced yet another wave of shock due to excessive uric acid, high blood sugar, and high SGPT. I realized at that point that I would have a great deal of difficulty and that I needed to completely overhaul my life.

4/7

Workout and diet you followed

For breakfast, I had poha or besan ka chilla. Lunch time consisted of multigrain roti, sabzi and salad on the side. I switched to drinking green tea instead of milk tea every day. Each day, I made sure to take at least 12000 steps. On other days, I even reached 20,000 steps in a single day! It was also necessary that I walk at least 4000 steps in the morning before I left for work.

5/7

What are the health related changes you observed?

All of my medical problems changed, and I shed 10 kg. I could finally stop using the medication to control my blood sugar level, and within 15 days, my uric acid and cholesterol returned to normal. After 30 days, my SGPT report also came out fine.

6/7

What kept you motivated?

I started my fitness program after experiencing a panic-like situation brought on by several health issues. The numerous encouraging comments I got from my friends and family encouraged me to keep going on my journey. After more than 15 months of living without taking any medications, I will have benefited much from this practice in May 2021. There were times when I was discouraged and unmotivated, thinking that nothing good would ever happen to me. Even COVID couldn't shake my self-assurance. And I kept up with several of my daily routines, such as drinking lukewarm water in the morning and taking at least 10,000 steps every day.

Personal milestones from this journey

Although I began it as a result of some traumatic occurrences in my life, it not only enabled me to live without taking any medications but also made me look leaner and fitter.

I no longer resemble a forty-year-old uncle. I even got unrealistic compliments for my younger looks.

The weight loss journey had a good effect on my other elements of life (I realise this is overdone). just as I began reading novels. In the previous 15 months, I read 60 books.

Most importantly, individuals feel inspired and positive after hearing about my experience.
