How this young girl lost 14 kgs in just 6 months!

Pallavi Pathak did not feel very good about herself, when she started gaining a lot of weight. She could not wear her favourite dresses and felt low on self-esteem, when people judged her on the basis of her physical appearance. That’s when she decided to adopt a healthy lifestyle. She worked out regularly in the morning and danced in the evening. She included healthy vegetable dishes to her diet and eventually achieved her desired weight. Here’s her fitness story.

Name: Pallavi Pathak

Occupation: Student

Age: 22

Height: 5'1

City: Ranchi (Jharkhand)

Highest weight recorded: 68 kg

Weight lost: 14 kg

Duration it took me to lose weight: 6 months

Diet followed

My breakfast: Two normal size rotis (chapattis) with healthy vegetables but with very less oil.

My lunch:Two rotis with bowl of proteinous pulses (dal) / once or twice small bowl of rice in a week

My dinner: Two rotis with vegetables/pulses

Pre-workout meal: Nothing only water

Post- workout meal: Small bowl of corn flakes with milk and with fruits or oats

I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): I have cravings for ice -cream but have it on very few occasions. Atta noodles with a lot of vegetables.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Mix of pulses with green vegetables but no oil. I also drink a lot of water.

Workout regime

I never went to the gym and did all my exercises at home.

I always targeted my belly, hip and thigh fat. In the morning, I dedicated 45 minutes to one hour daily to my workout routine.

Fitness secrets I unveiled

I never sit down after my stomach is full with my meal. Instead, I take a walk. I avoid overeating and make sure I drink plenty of water to suppress my cravings.

How do I stay motivated?: For me, exercise became all about discipline. I do not pressurize myself to be at the top of my fitness game, but I have made my workout routine a part of my daily life, so it doesn’t seem too much. People around me laugh at me, but whatever they think or do doesn’t matter to me. I just get up on time and start burning fat and always sweats during exercise. This gives me another level of energy. When I look in the mirror and witness my progress, it is satisfying and motivating at the same time.

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?

One of the most difficult parts of being overweight is that you can't wear the kind of dresses you wish to. Irrespective of whether you’re intelligent or beautiful, you are always judged by your physical appearance.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line?: I always make sure that I never stop exercising. More than anything else, you must adopt a healthy lifestyle. This helps you live a happier life.

6/6

What are the lifestyle changes you made?

I have started drinking more water, I avoid sugary foods, maida, and packed foods. Most importantly, I eat foods that have less oil, fat, and spices.

Lessons learnt from weight loss: You can do anything you want to do. Losing weight to prove something to others is not important. It is important to feel healthy and to want to live a fit life.

Do what makes you happy! I always dance for one hour in the evening because it helps me steer clear of all the stress and problems. And dancing daily makes me happier and the results are also awesome.

My confidence came back not from losing weight but from the hard work I put in and the shock on people’s faces, who always assumed I couldn’t do it. So where there is a will, there's a way.
