How this woman lost post-pregnancy weight

Sneha Ankit Daptry had gained a lot of weight during her pregnancy, which she believed would reduce after delivering her babies (twins). However, her weight remained the same and her body continued to look pregnant. The weight gain not only made her lazy, but it took a toll on her confidence too. So she decided to change the course of her life and get back on the fitness track. With healthy foods and regular workout, she lost 25 kilos in just over a year. Here’s her inspiring story:

Name: Sneha Ankit Daptry

Occupation: Home-maker

Age: 30yrs

Height: 5'3"

City: Kolkata

Highest weight recorded: 80 kgs

Weight lost: 25 kgs

Duration it took me to lose weight: 1.5 years

2/7

The turning point

After delivering twins, I gained a lot of post-pregnancy weight, which eventually made me realise life is too short to look bad. So I buckled up and decided to change the course.

3/7

Diet followed

My breakfast: Nuts, poha or upma, vegetable juice

My lunch: 2 chapati with vegetables, rice and dal

My dinner: 2 chapati with vegetable

Pre-workout meal: Lemon and jaggery hot water

Post- workout meal: My breakfast

I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): Anything and everything but in quantity check

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Fruits mixed in oats soaked in coconut milk with natural sweetener like dates

4/7

Workout regime

I indulged in 20 mins of running with 20 mins of abs or lower body workout.

Fitness secrets I unveiled: Working out after delivery is perfectly fine instead you can lose more if you start early.

5/7

How do I stay motivated?

I am motivated by other people’s success stories. Kareena Kapoor is one of my inspirations when it comes to losing post-pregnancy weight. Plus, I looked at my pre-pregnancy pictures and I knew right away that I could lose weight and get back to my older shape.

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus: The zeal to look the fittest when I carry my twins is enough to drive me back on track.

6/7

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight

The laziness and the low confidence which comes with being overweight leads to various health problems and one starts disliking themselves. This was the worst feeling for me.

What was the lowest point for you? - Even after delivering my babies, there was no change in weight. It was exactly the same. My nose got de-shaped, my body still looked pregnant and people came and told me the same. This made me doubt myself.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line?: I would really like to gain toned muscles. It would be really good to see abs with no pregnancy bulge on my stomach. With yoga, I would like my body to be very flexible.

7/7

What are the lifestyle changes you made?

I workout everyday and even if I am tired, I make sure I do not skip the routine. One day of rest can lead to many days of rest so don't skip.

Lessons learnt from weight loss: Let people speak, determination is what will take you far. Just be consistent and the extra weight will go away eventually.
