Weight loss story: This Delhi woman lost 30kgs weight in 24 months following this diet and workout plan
Simran Sehgal, a mental health counselor, faced a rough patch due to her weight. The issues started when she started working in the night shift, slowly her weight began increasing due to extreme lifestyle issues, poor sleep schedule and junk food eating habits. What caused alarm was that she skipped her menstrual cycle for 6 months. A visit to the doctor commenced her on the weight loss journey as it was a high time for her to shed weight.
Living in New Delhi since childhood, Simran's weight had been around 77 to 85 kilograms for the past few years. Being a big Punjabi foodie, along with all the health concerns made her fitness journey a lot difficult but not impossible
She continued to overlook her weight increase during that time. Her menstrual cycles stopped for six months and she started feeling exhausted all the time; she could barely walk a kilometer. Her attention was sharply drawn to fitness after the doctor advised her that acting on it was imperative. She made up her mind to put on strength and muscle in addition to losing weight.
Cutting rice, sugar, and bakery products and focusing on portion eating, her meals became a big supporter in her transformation journey. She enlisted her diet as:
Breakfast: Fresh fruits, Yerba Mate tea and boiled potatoes.
Lunch: A portion of vegetarian sabzi with daal and roti.
Evening snacks: Tea without sugar with baked mathri.
Dinner: A lightly homemade soup, such as mixed veg, pumpkin, tomato, and palak, or a bowl full of salad.
She managed her sweet cravings with Greek yogurt, and dark chocolate which helped her a lot.
Another challenge for her due to the night shift was to manage gym time. So, firstly she enrolled herself in a 24x7 gym.
Strength Training for 6 days a week, 50 minutes each day, blending it with a 20-minute slow incline walk on the treadmill.
Training each muscle twice a week keeping it slow but with the correct posture
“I can happily say choosing fitness has proven the best decision of my life and yes I firmly believe fitness is not the destination, it’s a journey, Our focus should not only to looking good but also on feeling good from inside and gaining strength, Fitness and being active should be the main goal,” said Simran Sehgal.
