Yoga asanas that can give you some respite from migraines
Migraines are recurring headaches, whose intensity varies from medium to high, and can last for more than a day. The symptoms include severe headaches, nausea, vomiting and sensitivity towards light or noise. Dr Hansaji Jayadeva Yogendra, a yoga expert recommends two yoga asanas you can do to get some relief.
Hastapadasana (hand to foot pose)
Stand straight with your feet together and hands by the side. Inhaling, bend backwards while extending your arms above your head. Exhaling, bend down towards your feet. Try to bend your head to reach your knees. This simple asanas helps to activate the nervous system, improves the blood circulation in the body and calms the mind.
Marjarasana (cat pose)
Get down on all your fours, inhaling, take your head up and arch your back. Exhaling, take the chin towards the chest and lift the spine up. This pose helps to open up the body and spine, thereby improving blood circulation. This relaxing pose improves the oxygen intake, which further relaxes the mind.
Practice Vaman Dhauti Yogic Kriya (stomach cleaning) to cleanse your system
It is essential to get rid of excess acidity from your body. In the morning on an empty stomach, drink a glass of lukewarm water. With a clean finger, gently massage the gums, palate, and tongue. This will make you vomit out the water along with the excess acid from your stomach.
