7 most expensive homes in the world

Home is said to be where the heart is. But for the world’s richest, home is where the heart of the city lies - expensive addresses. So, where do the ones for whom every second means billions of dollars live? Let’s find out. From royal residences to billionaire retreats, here is a list of some of the most expensive abodes in the world.

2/8

Buckingham Palace

The Buckingham Palace, nestled in the heart of London, is indeed the most expensive home in the world. Valued at approximately $4.9 billion. The royal residence has 775 rooms, 188 staff rooms, including 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 92 offices, 78 bathrooms, and 19 staterooms. Home to King Charles III, the 18th-century estate is a marvel in itself.

3/8

Antilia

Home to India's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, Antilla is situated in Mumbai's Cumballa Hills. The 400,000 sq ft mansion is a 27-story private skyscraper. Designed by Chicago-based architects Perkins and Will, the skyscraper is earthquake-resistant. It is engineered to withstand an 8.0-magnitude quake. The building has three helipads, a six-story car garage, a private cinema theater, and a snowroom (to beat the heat).

4/8

Villa Leopolda

Soaking in the breathtaking view of the French Riviera, in Villefranche-sur-Mer, Villa Leopolda is a mega mansion that King Leopold II of Belgium built. The 50-acre estate was valued $750 million at the time when Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov tried to buy it in 2008. The house has manicured gardens, a grand ballroom, a helipad, a guest house, and infinity pools overlooking the Mediterranean.

5/8

Villa Les Cèdres

Think about an expensive home facing the French Riviera, and Villa Les Cèdres pops in. Thought valued at $450 million, this mansion is located on the coast of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat's Villa Les Cèdres. Built in 1830, this luxury abode is a 14-bedroom villa. The property was bought in 1850 by Desire Pollonais, mayor of Villefranche-sur-Mer, when it was operated as an olive tree farm. In 1904, the Belgian King Leopold II bought the villa and expanded the beautiful gardens surrounding it. Now surrounded by 35 acres of citrus groves and olive trees, this mansion also has a 3000-book library, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a bronze statue of the goddess Athena, a stable enough for 30 horses, and much more. In 2019, Ukraine's richest man, Rinat Akhmetov, bought the villa.

6/8

Four Fairfield Pond

Fair Field is a 63-acre home that stands in Sagaponack, New York. This ultra-luxury home and estate is owned by billionaire industrialist Ira Rennert. It has 29 bedrooms, 39 bathrooms, including a 164-seat private theater, a restaurant-sized kitchen, a resort-style pool complex, professional tennis and basketball courts, and a 10,000 sq ft playhouse for family gatherings.

7/8

Les Palais Bulles

Also known as the Bubble Palace, Les Palais Bulles is one of the most exquisite homes on the French Riviera. Designed by architect Antti Lovag, this terracotta-colored bubble is estimated to be valued at around $420 million. This home has a large-scale indoor hall, a panoramic lounge, an open-air theater with 500 seats, 10 bedrooms, several swimming pools, and waterfalls in extensive landscaped grounds.

8/8

The Odeon Tower Penthouse

The Odeon Tower Penthouse in Monaco is one of the most expensive flats in the world. It sits at the top of a 560ft skyscraper, overlooking the Mediterranean. The five-level residence includes 38,000 sq ft of space, with lavish bedroom suites, fully equipped kitchens, and vast reception areas ideal for entertaining. The estimated value of this property is $335 million.
