This is one of the most common way to decorate temples and puja sthans. Lord Krishna is fond of fragrant flowers like jasmine and mogra. You can decorate the temple with these flowers weaved into into long strings that you wrap around his jhula too.

This is one of the most traditional ways to decorate your house on a festival. This Indian tradition is a warm way to welcome the arrival of guests hence, suits best for Janmashtami decoration. Make a colourful rangoli in front of the temple of your house to welcome the arrival of Lord Krishna at midnight.

Create a dahi handiLord Krishna loved ‘Dahi’ or curd and unsalted white butter. There are several folktales related to him stealing the curd and butter as an innocent child and getting caught. These are the two most essential ingredients one need to offer while praying the Lord on Janmashtami. Decorate BansurisLord Krishna loved to play bansuri or flute. He created music that enchanted his fellows and friends. Pick up few bansuris and decorate them with sparkles, brocades and mirrors. You can either hang them as decoration or just place them near the temple, they will surely add lot of fervour to you Janmashtami celebration.
