The right diet!

For every parent introducing solid food to the toddler is a daunting task. Most people prefer to start with rice and cereals, considering them nutritious. But this is not sufficient. When you start giving solids to your baby, it is important to give iron-rich foods. That's because the babies are born with a reserve of iron, which begins to deplete by six months. So, for the normal growth and development of babies, it is important to give them food packed with iron.

Here are 5 food items you should give to your kid after he or she turns 6-month-old.

2/6

Egg yolks

Parents are often confused about introducing eggs and non-vegetarian food items to their babies. There is no need to be confused as they are absolutely safe and healthy. Eggs yolks contain iron, which is important for a baby's growth. Mash the boiled egg and add some salt to it before giving it to the baby.

3/6

Beans

Beans are also a rich source of non-heme iron (plant-based iron) and protein. You can boil the beans, mash, add a pinch of salt and feed your baby.

4/6

Lentils

Lentils are packed with iron, protein and other nutrients. You can give different varieties of lentils to your kids every day. You just have to cook them for 20 minutes and then serve in a bowl.

5/6

Peanut butter

Studies suggest that giving peanut butter to your child at an early age can prevent peanut allergies. Do not give whole peanuts to your baby, rather spread a little peanut butter on a toast and then feed them. 100 grams of peanut contains 4.6 mg iron.

6/6

Banana

Banana is one fruit that your toothless baby can have easily. Packed with iron, magnesium, potassium and other nutrients, the yellow fibrous fruit also helps in easy bowel movement. You can either chop it or mash it before serving it your baby.
