​Maa Durga represents the Supreme Power or the Shakti​


Currently, Hindus are observing Navratri, the nine-day auspicious festival where devotees pray to the Shakti. Maa Durga has nine forms Shailputri, Brahmcharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandmata, Katyaini, Kaalratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhatri. “जटा जूट समायुक्तमर्धेंन्दु कृत लक्षणामलोचनत्रय संयुक्तां पद्मेन्दुसद्यशाननाम”


English:
“Om jataa jut samaayuktamardhendu krit lakshnam
Lochanyatra sanyuktam padmendu sadya shan naam”


With this mantra, one bows down to the Supreme Power. The mantra encourages one to concentrate on the goals and helps them focus on them to achieve them. Students should be encouraged to chant this mantra early in the morning.

"या देवी सर्वभुतेषु बुद्धिरूपेण संस्थितानमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः”

English:
"Yaa devi sarva bhuteshu, buddhi rupena sangsthita
Namastasyai, namastasyai, namastasyai, namo namaha”


This mantra talks about the significance of the Goddess who is omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient. It describes the beauty and intelligence of the Goddess.

रिपव: संक्षयम् यान्ति कल्याणम चोपपद्यतेनन्दते च कुलम पुंसाम माहात्म्यम मम श्रृणुयान्मम

English:

Ripavah sankshayam yaanti kalyaanam chop padyate
Nandate cha kulam punsaam maahaatmyam mam srinu yaanmam


This powerful mantra is believed to protect one from evil eyes. It also calls on the blessings of the Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, and Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth.

शान्तिकर्मणि सर्वत्र तथा दु:स्वप्नदर्शनेग्रहपीडासु चोग्रासु माहात्म्यं श्रृणुयान्मम

English:

“Shanti karmani sarvatra tatha duh swapna darshane
Grah pidaasu chograsu maahaatmyam srinu yaanmam”


This powerful mantra helps get rid of bad omens and nightmares. It instills hope and goodwill in those who chant it.

English:
“Sarva Mangala Mangalye Sive Sarvartha Sadhike
Saranye Trayambike Gauri Narayani Namostute”

This mantra offers salutations to the Supreme power Shakti. Chanting this mantra helps in fulfilling wishes. This mantra describes Maa Durga as a giver and as one who can envision the present, past and the future.
