Keep your home dust-free and clean

Dust and pollen are primary causes of seasonal allergies. To keep allergens at bay, hoover your home on a regular basis, paying specific attention to carpets and curtains. Wipe off surfaces with a moist cloth to remove dust, and wash your child's bedding in hot water weekly. Consider using an air purifier to keep your indoor air pure.

Better immunity with a healthy diet

A strong immune system can help your child fight off allergies. Add immunity-boosting foods like citrus fruits, spinach, almonds, and curd to their diet. These foods are rich in vitamins and antioxidants that strengthen their body against allergens. You can also give them a warm glass of turmeric milk before bedtime—it’s a great natural remedy to ward off infections.

Water to the rescue

Hydration is key to keeping allergies under control. Drinking plenty of water helps flush out toxins and clears mucus buildup, which can aggravate allergies. You can also offer warm herbal teas like chamomile or ginger tea if your child is comfortable with them. These teas can soothe a scratchy throat and reduce nasal irritation.

Cut on some outdoor play during high-pollen times

Pollen levels are usually highest in the morning and early evening. If possible, avoid letting your child play outside during these times. Encourage indoor activities instead, or plan outdoor play for the middle of the day when pollen levels are lower. If they do go outside, ensure they shower and change clothes immediately to remove any pollen sticking to their skin or hair.

Try simple home remedies for relief

Some home remedies can work wonders to ease allergy symptoms. A saline nasal rinse is safe and effective in clearing nasal passages. Steam inhalation with a drop of eucalyptus oil can help with congestion. If your child has itchy skin, a cool oatmeal bath can provide relief. Always test remedies in small amounts and consult a doctor if symptoms persist.
