Kunal Kemmu calls himself the 'baby' in his parenting style with daughter Innaya
Kunal Kemmu and Soha Ali Khan are parents to a daughter named Innaya. In a conversation with stand-up comic Kenny Sebastian, Kunal spoke about his parenting style and how he's been adapting to the new ways of bonding with his daughter. While he calls his parenting style 'old school', he is warming up to the idea of taking into the kid's feelings as well. In the podcast he says, I am very old school. I am very simple and keep it very simple. If you are hungry, eat whatever you like. If it's lunch time, eat whatever.' He added that his approach has been very direct. He shared, 'If I am talking about something, I don't want to hear what you have to say, just listen to me first and then I'll listen to you. We will have turns and when I'm working, do not interrupt. We are not going to talk about your feelings right now. We'll get to that later. I'm not trying to understand what your feelings are right now.' While this has been his approach, he is coming to terms with the new age parenting technique, where he is adapting to the idea of respecting the other person's feelings and hearing them out as well. Kunal added, 'The way we are going they'll be telling us exactly what to eat.
We are so in tune with 'what do you feel', I'm like your not supposed to ask them, why are you asking her, she doesn't know anything. But I'm learning and I'm the baby in this relationship.' He also called himself and 'instinctive' and 'adaptive' father. Speaking to ANI previously, he said, "I don't know what the description of a father is, but I just feel that I'm an instinctive father if I may say so, because if you just see it like a responsibility and a job, then that takes the fun out of any relationship, I think."He also added that his wife Soha and he will be the decision maker for their 8-yr-old daughter untill she becomes an adult. He added, "It is a responsibility because sometimes you feel that I don't know if I'm making the right decision for me. How am I making the right decision for her? So, I think I am an adaptive father, and I think I'm an instinctive father."
