Powerful mother and more!

Nita Ambani, one of the most influential women in the nation, needs no introduction. She is the chairperson and founder of the Reliance Foundation, Dhirubhai Ambani International School and a director of Reliance Industries. She is married to Reliance Industries chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani and is mother to three talented children -- Isha (31), Akash (31) and Anant Ambani (27).

Here is a look at Nita Ambani's incredible journey as a mom.

Doctors said she could never conceive

Nita Ambani always wanted to be a mother. "Even when I was in school, I would write long, copious essays titled, ‘When I’ll be a mother…,’" she told a lifestyle website.

However, Nita was left "shattered" when doctors told her she "would never have children." It was then through IVF that she conceived her twins.

Still, her pregnancy was traumatic and she delivered two months earlier in a state of medical emergency. It was her positivity that kept her going. Three years later, Anant was born naturally.

Keeping kids grounded: ‘Tu Ambani hai ya bhikari!’

“When my kids were still young, I’d give them Rs 5 each every Friday to spend in the school canteen. One day, my youngest, Anant, came running into my bedroom and demanded he be given Rs 10 instead. When I questioned him, he said his pals in school laughed whenever they saw him take out a five-rupee coin saying,‘Tu Ambani hai ya bhikari!’ Mukesh and I couldn’t help but crack up,” Nita Ambani told idiva.

She also ensured that her kids "used public transport for their college trips."

'My mom was way stricter,' recalls Isha

"When my mother finally had us, she wanted to be a full-time mum initially. Later, she went back to work when we were five, but she was still a tiger mom. I remember, whenever mom and I had fights, we'd call dad to resolve the issue. My mom was way stricter. If we wanted to bunk school, dad would be like, 'It's no big deal' but mom would ensure we ate on time, studied hard and got our playtime as well," Isha Ambani told Vogue.

Losing weight with Anant

Nita motivated her son to lose weight by becoming his weight-loss buddy.

"He had to lose weight for health reasons. A child does what his mother does, so I couldn’t be seen eating while putting him on a diet. So I went on a diet along with Anant. Whatever he ate, I ate. Whenever he exercised, I did too. If he went for a walk, I would go along. By virtue of being his mother, I lost weight," she told Times of India in a 2017 interview.

Balancing work and family

"As much as I want to believe that women can have it all, I know that my mom gave it all up to raise us. But once we grew up, I also saw her balance work and home perfectly. Watching her play all these different roles—from full-time mom to businesswoman—I learnt how important each facet is in a woman's life and how one needs to define what “having it all” means during these different stages," Isha Ambani told Vogue.
