Ram Charan opens up about parenting, says he is a ‘rough dad’ while wife Upasana is the nurturing one
In a recent interview, Ram Charan spoke about his parenting style and how he is raising his kids along with his wife, Upasana Kamineni Konidela. Speaking truthfully, the actor admitted that he is more of a 'rough dad' while his wife is the emotional support of the house. Ram Charan's openness has impressed many fans on social media platforms as he addressed the issue of parenting and its dynamics in an honest manner.
When the interviewer asked him if he is the type of strict or fun dad in the house, Ram Charan responded by saying he is the 'rough kind of dad'. He explained that he allows his kids to play and get involved in activities where they can learn to overcome their fears and gain confidence.
And the actor said, " I'm the rough kind of dad. The one who lets them jump, play dirty, climb, and take risks." He added that he is a person who likes to give freedom to his children to explore new things rather than keeping them under constant surveillance.
While speaking about his parenting style, Ram Charan also mentioned his wife Upasana's role in raising their kids. He expressed that she is the nurturing aspect of the family and that she takes care of the emotional well-being of their children.
"Their mother is the nurturing pole; I'm the one they come to when they want courage," he said.
While speaking about his family, Ram Charan expressed his love for them as he confessed that without his kids, he cannot find any reason to live. Ram Charan said that without them, his house is incomplete as they are the ones who make the house lively.
"My children are my heartbeat, my breath, my soul, and my mind," he said.
While talking about being a father, Ram Charan expressed that being present for his children means everything to him. He said that kids tend to learn many lessons from their parents and that he would like to set a good example for his children.
"The biggest lesson we learn is from observing our parents. And I want to be a very, very present person first. And I want to be a present father," he said.
Ram Charan and Upasana Kamineni Konidela got engaged in 2011 and tied the knot in 2012. They have two kids named Klin Kaara and twins born in January 2026.
