The German royal, Prince Harald of Hohenzollern was 63-year-old and he tragically died of a heart attack in Namibia.

Princess Josefa, 51, who is currently pregnant and expecting their baby this month (July 2025), shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional post on Instagram, which was originally written in German. “Dear fellow citizens of Leonberg, today I am writing with a heavy heart,” she began. “My beloved husband, Harald v. Hohenzollern, died completely unexpectedly of a sudden cardiac death. This loss hits me very deep.”

The princess posted several tender photos of the couple, offering a glimpse into their private love story that captured many hearts. Their romance began two years ago and led to a joyful wedding in September 2024 in Josefa’s hometown of Kollnburg. Their journey together was just beginning, filled with hope, love, and the excitement of becoming first-time parents.

Prince Harald had been working in Namibia in the diamond industry at the time of his death. His sudden passing has left Princess Josefa not only in mourning but also preparing to bring their child into the world without him by her side.
In her heartfelt message, the princess further wrote, “I need time to grieve, say goodbye, and be there for our unborn child.” As a result, she announced that she would temporarily step away from her duties as the mayor of Leonberg, where she is also running for re-election.

Known affectionately by locals as the “singing mayor,” Princess Josefa is a beloved public figure, celebrated for her deep passion for music and her presence at cultural events throughout the region.

The Hohenzollern family is one of the most historically significant royal houses in Europe. Though their rule ended following the German Revolution after World War I, the dynasty’s legacy continues.
