Here's how it changes you

When you have been cheated on by your partner, you feel broken, lost and so many other emotions including humiliation. Cheating also changes us as a person and it usually is a permanent change. Have you been cheated on? Scroll down to confirm if these changes were experienced by you too.

2/4

Decreased trust

Trust is the foundation of any relationship. It makes you feel safe, secure, and valued. However, being cheated on can shatter that trust. When someone you love and trust cheats on you, it can be difficult to trust others again in the future. You tend to become more guarded, suspicious, and hesitant to open up to others. This lack of trust can go beyond romantic relationships and affect your relationships with friends, family, and coworkers. You put up walls and keep people at a distance. This makes it challenging to form new relationships and maintain existing ones. You can also become overly vigilant and paranoid, and even ruin your future relationships with these doubts for no reason.

3/4

Lower self-esteem

Infidelity can also have a significant impact on your self-esteem. When someone cheats on you, it can make you feel as though you are not good enough. You may even question your self-worth. These feelings of inadequacy can linger long after the relationship has ended, affecting your confidence in future relationships. You can also have increased anxiety, depression, and social isolation. Infidelity can make it difficult to open up to others, express your needs, and receive the support you need to heal.

4/4

Emotional trauma

When you are cheated on, it can also be a traumatic experience that leaves emotional scars. It often gets difficult to process the feelings of anger, sadness, betrayal, and heartbreak that often accompany being cheated on. You may struggle to make sense of what happened and find it challenging to move on. This emotional trauma can lead to avoidance, intrusive thoughts, and emotional numbness.
