How open relationship helped these couples

An open relationship is more than just cheating with permission from your partner. It’s so much more. It’s about communication, trust, independence and boundaries. People assume open relationships to be a difficult game, whereas couples who are in it, actually feel the opposite. We spoke to 4 couples who chose to remain anonymous, and they have some very interesting insights to share on how their life has changed ever since they got into an open relationship.

Freedom

“We both have gotten so much freedom ever since we started seeing other people. We have also gotten much more honest with each other. We have become more emotionally attached to each other even though we have sex with other people. Surprisingly, being in an open relationship has done more good to us, than damage. To each, their own!”

3/5

Freedom

“We had gotten so detached from each other that we despised it when we got into bed together every night. My wife and I both weren’t able to understand each other’s sexual needs and that worsened the gap between us. But, ever since we diverted our attention to other people, and only focussed on the emotional aspect of our relationship, we eventually got closer. We have been able to satisfy our sexual needs a lot more.

4/5

Jealousy

“We both have started giving each other more attention and love when we’re with each other. The moment we go out of the house, we focus on our sexual lives. And that has helped us prioritize our relationship even more.”

5/5

Long-distance relationships

“It may sound weird to others, but being in an open relationship when you’re also in a long-distance relationship is the best thing ever. There’s spontaneity. If we both need a physical touch to make us feel good, we can go for it. But when we need each other’s emotional and mental presence, we connect with each other. This balance is all that matters. We have been doing really good being in an open relationship!”
