Types of relationship problems

COVID-19 has taken a massive toll on everyone, including people in love. While most of us thought that love would keep us alive and that it would help us stay afloat during these trying times, it seems quite the opposite.

Living together with one’s partner under the same roof and in a state of lockdown has proven to be extremely toxic for some of us. Although some have found a middle-ground and learned the art of compromising, others are struggling to keep up with their faltering relationship. This could be because of the growing insecurity and the constant overthinking that comes with an ample amount of time we have at hand. However, it is crucial that we locate these problems and try and solve them.

Here are 5 types of relationship problems that you can or have faced during this lockdown period.

2/6

Invasion of personal space

Living together in close quarters with your partner can surely disrupt your personal space. It problematizes your relationship and also makes you question your own individuality and independence. At times like these, it is important that you heed your partner's cry for space. Let them be alone when they do not want you to control every aspect of their lives, be it their work or social media.

3/6

Financial insecurity

With many people losing their jobs and their means to earn their livelihood, the strain seems to be felt on various relationships. In terms of a couple, much is left on speculations and there’s a lot that needs to be reconsidered. Financial insecurity is, therefore, one of the reigning relationship problems currently. That being said, it is not fair to leave your partner in times of such distress. Instead, lend them a supporting hand and make sure they are not troubled by these thoughts.

4/6

Less excitement, more boredom

Being together all the time can make things dull and boring. The excitement gets tossed out of the window and it becomes unbearable to look at your partner sometimes. While it is a normal process you must all deal with, you can add a pinch of spice to your life by indulging in fun activities together. Either plan a dinner date at home or binge-watch your favorite shows on Netflix. These little things can really enhance your relationships.

5/6

Unequal division of household work

What can be worse than finishing all the household chores on your own? This is something that seems to be the biggest problem with a couple during this lockdown. While one may not be accustomed to working at home, the other person does all the work, which with time stresses out the relationship in one way or the other. The best way to tackle this problem is by dividing the chores equally amongst each other.

6/6

Lack of productive communication

While both of you are under the same roof and living together, it’s either lack of space or a lack of productive communication, that’s ready to wound your relationship. Communication is important, but if you’re texting your partner from the other room to get something done, then that’s a problem you must solve immediately. Maybe take some time off of your phone and social media and spend some quality time with your partner. That’ll bring back the connection that was lost over time.
