Confessions of commitment-phobic men and women

Can you relate to them?

Cheating is one aspect, but your world is very different when you are commitment-phobic. Generally, this behaviour stems from emotional traumas in the past and they translate into people’s decision makings. So here are a few men and women who anonymously confessed their moments when the phobia kicked in.

2/4

It’s like I had Henry Cavill but I loved my freedom more

I was with this pitch-perfect man and I let him go. He had the looks and charm of Henry Cavill, the manners and humor like that of Shah Rukh Khan, but I was so scared of losing my wings that I refused his marriage proposal. I have no regrets but I do know that I had someone I probably did not deserve. The moment he went down on one knee after 3 years of us dating, I had my entire life of free moments flashing in front of my eyes. I thought someone was trying to tie me to that super-old banyan tree in my village I hated so much. I looked into his eyes, said sorry and ran for my life. I know karma bites but I am ready to be bitten.

3/4

I know I would have cheated on her

She was my girl for almost a decade but when she asked for commitment, I ran the other way. No, she did not deserve that and I know I destroyed her heart and mental health but I know I would have cheated on her. I just do not like being tied down. The idea of seeing this one face every day for the rest of my life when I wake up and when I sleep suffocates me. I could not bring myself to say I want to be committed so I told her that I prefer being single and living my life on my own terms.

4/4

She reminded me of my mom who walked out on us

Every woman I have dated would end up reminding me of my mom who walked out on my dad and me when I was 12. It was always amazing until they asked for a commitment. I remember how miserable my father was. He took to alcohol and perished. I was left alone at 18 and took to small jobs while supporting my own education. It was like a shoddy Hindi movie and my relationships were miserable after every year or two.

If you want to live life on your own terms and feel suffocated seeing the same face every morning and night then why date them in the first place? Just stay single forever and don't waste someone else's time and emotions.
