1/6

See as per your schedule

Once you know you have time to date and you can set apart some time for the same, then only go ahead. Then you know what time you have in the week, the days you can manage. That will clear your head a little.

2/6

Don’t feel guilty

You are a mom indeed but you are a woman too! You are not doing anything wrong by dating someone. You deserve a life outside and also, this will keep you happy too.

3/6

Be proud of yourself

You are a single mom and that needs a lot of guts and will power. You should be proud of yourself instead of feeling apologetic. Many single parents feel they have to explain themselves. You do not need to do that! Be proud of yourself and this will show in your personality as well.

4/6

Telling your kids

Once you are confident about your new partner, only then introduce him or her to your kids. Ease it on them. First explain it to them and then encourage them to ask questions about the same. The child or kids will need reassurance that they are not going to be left alone. Many children feel insecure as well. One way would be to do a fun activity together where your partner and the child can get to know each other.

5/6

PDA

It is as big a change for your kids as you when you begin seeing someone. For a smooth transition, don’t do things that might upset the child, especially something like public display of affection with your partner. You know your child and the situation best so just be a little sensitive and take it step-by-step.

6/6

Partner’s role

Just like your child, your partner must understand the sensitivity needed in this relationship. He/she too has to work on building the relationship especially with the child. First see the comfort level of your child with him/her. If the kid is running away from the partner or is uncomfortable, talk to the child first and try to understand why it is so. Your kid comes first!
