Maanglik dosha is also called Kuja dosha or Chevvai dosham. When the planet Mars is placed in 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th houses from Lagna (ascendant), Chandra (moon) or Sukra (Venus) in a natal chart, then the native will suffer from Maanglik Dosha.

The effects of Maanglik dosha

If one spouse has Maanglik dosha, and the other doesn’t, then it will affect the longevity of the spouse’s life who does not have Maanglik dosha. That’s why people care about whether their horoscope has Maanglik dosha or not. It is also considered as an important factor in horoscope matching for marriage. The solution is if both the boy and girl having Maanglik dosha, then there will not be any issues in moving forward with marriage.

Exemption rules to this dosha

There are many exemption rules to this dosha that can be analyzed by an astrologer. a few rules which can be applied are:

  1. Mars placement on its own signs (Mesha, Vrischika) and exalted sign (Makara).
  2. The birth chart is coming under Simha Lagna or Kataga Lagna.
  3. Mars placement on Simha or Katara Rasi on the horoscope
  4. There are about 20 total rules that can be applied to cancel this Maanglik dosha.

How to deal with Maanglik Dosha?

The simple solution is to get married to the person who has the same dosha. What to do in case of a love marriage when one spouse has Maanglik dosha? Here is a list of a few options:

1.Make sure the boy and girl already completed Mars Mahadasha or will not start Mars Mahadasha until their old age 80+.

2.Make sure the spouse who does not have Maanglik dosha does not start his Maraka (killer) mahadasha.

3.Make sure the spouse who has Maanglik dosha does not start Bhadhaka (damage) mahadasha.

4.Check the longevity of the boy and girl by looking at their 8th house.

5.Check the Rh blood group compatibility type for the boy and girl when planning for a baby.
