When Jensen met Lori
Jensen Huang, originally from Taiwan and later immigrating to the United States, studied electrical engineering at Oregon State University. It was at Oregon State that Jensen, then only 17 years old, crossed paths with Lori Mills, who was 19. Lori — unintimidated amidst the overflow of testosterone — stood out in her class of around 250 engineering students, with only three women among them. It’s safe to say that she was one of her own kind even then!
Jensen recalled walking up to her and using what might seem a bold, yet charming line: “Do you want to see my homework?”

Jensen then offered a deal: If she joined him every Sunday to do homework together, he promised she would get straight A’s. That clever pact turned into weekly study dates, marking the beginning of their relationship.
That’s not all. Jensen also made a bold declaration: he told her that by the time he was 30, he would be a CEO. Staying true to his words, he later founded Nvidia Corporation at the age of 30 in 1993.
From college-mates to life partners
Jensen and Lori’s relationship began at a college campus, but it matured over time. Five years after they initially met at Oregon State, Jensen and Lori married. The Huangs have two children — Madison and Spencer — both of whom have ties to NVIDIA’s business and culture.
