The"unspoken rule" of successful marriage, revealed by married women

Marriage is a journey filled with joys and challenges that intertwine two lives together. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach to a successful marriage, the wisdom of married women often offers valuable insights. There exists a treasure trove of unspoken rules—nuggets of wisdom passed down through generations. These unspoken guidelines, shared by experienced wives, hold the potential to foster understanding, compromise, and love, laying the foundation for a truly successful and fulfilling new partnership. Here we list down the revelations of married women as they unveil their secret "unspoken rule" for nurturing a thriving and harmonious marriage.

2/7

In marriage, you both are partners

"Marriage is partnership, not a codependent relationship. I believe it's essential for both partners to maintain their independence, preserve their unique personalities, and nurture their own interests alongside the relationship. I never lost myself in his challenges or issues. Yes, we both together are an entity but we both also have individual personalities and I've always embraced it."

3/7

Try before you buy rule

"I always had this rule that try before you buy. I never jumped into a relationship and when it came to marriage, I took my sweet time. Even after that, I used to confront challenging choices to observe how he responds when things don't go as planned."

4/7

Embrace integrity and equality

"I hold myself and him to high moral and ethical standards. I ensure I'm honest with him and trust hum because that's most important. I ensure that we are respectful in all interactions even we don't agree. It's my rule that I communicate with him and not storm off in fights."

5/7

The price of admission

"I've accepted that certain aspects of his behaviour come as part of the package and it's important to embrace the person you chose to marry. Whether it's leaving a mess around the house or forgetting to hang up a wet towel, rather than getting upset, now for me it's easier to simply accept these quirks as a natural part of having in my life. According to my assessment the overall "price of admission" is reasonable for me."

6/7

Pick your battles

"One rule of mine is that I always uphold my self-respect. For every married woman, my advice is that avoid being submissive and don't be a pushover. But I'm selective in the conflicts I engage in. I don't pick up fights for no reason but where it's necessary I do let him what I felt bad and it's not okay."

7/7

It's important to set boundaries

"I've established clear boundaries and expectations in our marriage. I take the time to sit down with him and discuss my feelings when something affects me emotionally and ask him if I feel something's wrong with him. But I also make sure when he needs his space and give him that. I've been very clear in every aspect what is okay and acceptable and what's not. This helps us avoid unnecessary fights and arguments."
