Moments when you should keep your mouth shut

We all have our opinions and we want the world to hear them too. But then there are moments when no one needs to hear you or simply wants you to be a good listener. Sometimes speaking at the wrong time can land you in trouble or put you in an awkward situation as well. So here are some of those moments when it is important that you keep your mouth shut.

2/8

When the other side is misunderstanding you

At times, you make mistakes but the other person has forgotten all about it. This is when you do not remind them what you did because it has saved you from another drama. So keep your mouth shut when it is a non-harmful misunderstanding.

3/8

The silent strategy

When you want someone to tell you the truth or give more information, simply just keep looking at the person and stay quiet. They will automatically spill all the beans until you stop looking at them and then realise what hit them.

4/8

When you have asked a question

If you have asked someone a question, then be patient to hear their answer. Being opinionated is good but hearing your own voice throughout his narcissism. So shut it and listen to what the other has to say even if it differs from what you have asked.

5/8

No value addition

You do not need to know everything about everything. Sometimes it happens that you have no value to add to the conversation. So the best is to keep quiet instead of making a fool of yourself.

6/8

When you are walking on glass

If you say something, and you know very well that it can shake the still water, be very careful. It is best to analyse the situation first and then speak up if you have to. Don’t speak when you know you may end up regretting it later.

7/8

Know-it-all

Sometimes it is good to keep your mouth shut even if you know what is being discussed. Judge your situation and see whether you will look like Miss or Mr. know-it-all or not.

8/8

“I told you so”

Yes the person knows you did warn him or her but you do not have to rub it in. Just keep quiet. You did your job to warn them, so that is enough.
