Questions to ask yourself about your pandemic relationship, to know if it’ll last

The coronavirus pandemic has taught us several life lessons including the importance of family, the value of human life and relationships, how important it is to save our environment, among other things. In addition, since most of us were restricted inside our homes during the lockdown, many new relationships formed over the internet. People came into contact with people digitally and got into a relationship with them. While a section of such people considers their love story as “dreamy”, others are a bit unsure. This is mainly because of the reason that their relationship might be a result of the loneliness and monotonousness during the lockdown. If you are also in a similar situation, here are 5 questions to ask yourself to know if your pandemic relationship will last or not.

2/6

“Do I see a future with this person?”

If you are looking to settle down or at least get serious, it is time to think about whether your pandemic relationship is sustainable or not. Asking yourself this question will help you see whether the person you are with is your "type" or not. In addition, it will also help you understand what expectations the two of you have from life and whether you are on the same page or not.

3/6

“Was I choosing out of lack and desperation?”

Before the pandemic struck, many people held themselves to higher standards, but when the lockdown happened, they "settled" for what was available. The lockdown limited our romantic prospects and put everyone in a panic. Between food shortages and job losses, we were all making crucial decisions with limited information. So consider under what circumstances you made the choice.

4/6

“Did we get along well during the lockdown?”

An important factor in determining long-term happiness is how well the two of you function on a daily basis. Look at each aspect of your daily life together - communication patterns, fights, intimacy, etc. Also, take a look at how you two relate to each other. Being able to feel at peace in your relationship is a good sign that it’s headed in the right direction.

5/6

“Do we have complementary dispositions?”

If you survived your daily lockdown challenges with understanding and kindness, you definitely have a person you can plan a future with. You have proven to yourselves that you can go the distance if you and your partner were able to maintain a healthy relationship during the worst of times.

6/6

"Do I want this person at my side during post-COVID experiences and adventures?"

Consider all the things that might be possible in a world where COVID-19 and its variants are no longer a barrier. They could include things like connecting with lots of people, exploring the world again, having more mobility and financial possibilities. When you think of everything that awaits you on the other side, do you envision your partner there with you?
