Signs it's time to cut off the friendship

Friendship is a beautiful connection that stands throughout your life. You grow with your friends and help them in their growth too. But sometimes friendships can become a hefty task to keep up with. It usually happens when instead of being your admirer, your friend becomes otherwise. Then, the only way you have is to cut them off. Here are 7 signs it's time to cut off the friendship.

2/8

You have become closer to their family

With time, when you find yourself growing apart from each other and growing closer to the people around them, it's time to cut off. You no longer want to be at a place where the friendship doesn't flow fully. Instead, start investing your energy in the connections that are fresh throughout.

3/8

You make exceptions for them

If you start tolerating their poor treatment just because you both have a history together then the friendship has become toxic. Being familiar with each other brings comfort but this false sense of comfort isn't worth sticking around.

4/8

Abusive behavior

If they try to push their abusive behavior towards you, it's time you cut them off. Calling each other family doesn't mean you have to keep up with each other's mean and abusive behavior. You should cut each other out if you have become toxic for each other.

5/8

Everything is one-sided

They don't want to hear you and be there for you when you need them. As soon as the conversation about them is over, they stop responding and listening to you. If only you are the one who is putting in effort and they don't do anything, it's wise to cut off the friendship.

6/8

You feel guilty

If you are no longer receiving what you expect in a friendship and you blame yourself for all of it and feel guilty, it is time you cut off the friendship. This guilt makes you overthink and give in more than the required efforts in your friendship. It forces you to initiate conversations and hanging out with them even if you don't want to.

7/8

You feel drained

If you feel down after interacting with them, it's a sign that your energies don't match anymore and you should say goodbye to your friend. Friends are supposed to uplift you in hard times but if it is getting otherwise with you, you need to let that person walk away. Feeling drained doesn't have to be the emotion when you are friends with someone.

8/8

Your growth has stopped

If you aren't growing with them anymore and being with them has become a hefty task, you should cut them off. The sign that it isn't leading to something positive from your friendship, makes it clear that being friends with them would bring no good. Therefore, you should cut this friendship off and start fresh for your sake.

Every relationship goes through its ups and downs. It does not mean that you cut off your relationship with your friends or family. They are your anchor for life.
